How to use and update a hosted landing page

  • Updated

For all programs created within the MySheerID platform or the Shopify app, SheerID automatically creates a hosted landing page for the verification flow. This offer landing page gives your SheerID program a digital home.

Spark consumer interest with eye-catching imagery, describe your offer, outline eligibility, and invite customers to verify. It’s an easy yet powerful way to start driving interest for your offer.

Create or update your hosted landing page

You can edit all the text on the page, upload a logo, change the page styling, and/or swap in your own background image. SheerID recommends maintaining a 5:2 aspect ratio, though the image will auto-scale to the available screen area of the viewer.

  1. Login to your MySheerID account
  2. Select the program you'd like to update
  3. Click the Customize button in the upper right hand corner
  4. Select Theme from the left hand sidebar
  5. Expand Brand to update the following
    • Logo Image
      • 210px by 70px
      • Max file size: 1 MB
  6. Expand Landing Page to update the following:
    • Layout
    • Title
    • Subtitle
    • Background Image
      • 2000px by 800px

Sharing your landing page

When you are ready to market your offer, you can link to this offer landing page from your social media channels and other promotional activities.

Using the offer landing page is complementary to also publishing your offer in other locations. For example, you could link to the offer landing page in your website footer and have a button deeper in your checkout flow to prompt your site visitors to get verified.

The page supports metadata provided via query parameters on the URL. Any key-value pair present in the URL linking to the page will automatically get saved as metadata on the verifications.

Linking to your landing page

While the offer landing page is most commonly used with coupon code reward strategies, in which it is easy for the verification journey to occur independently from other activity on your site, a key part of identity marketing is unlocking word of mouth. For example, students tell other students about your offer, those word of mouth referrals need to be able to easily find your offer landing page.

SheerID recommends that you add a link to your site navigation that points to the offer landing page, ensuring your offer is always available to those looking for offers on your site.

Best Practices

  • Build a landing page for each consumer community, or group similar communities together in one page. For example, Academic Program: Teachers + Faculty + Students; Military & First Responders; Everyday Heroes: Healthcare + Teachers + First Responders + Military; Pro Program: Professionals + Employees + Healthcare + Teachers + First Responders + Military
  • Use a clear headline. The headline should clearly state the contents of the page. Example: Thank you Veterans!
  • Add supporting copy. It's beneficial to include a sentence with the following details: discount amount or offer detail, messaging specific to the consumer community, why you are making the offer.
  • Include your Eligibility Statement. Define who is and who is not eligible for an offer and how many times they can receive an offer (redemption limit). Examples: Active Duty military personnel only, or Doctors and Nurses only (SheerID recommends being inclusive to avoid consumer friction). An example of a redemption limit could be a one-time use code, or one code every 30 days.
  • Use one or more Call to Action (CTA). The CTA should be at the bottom of the form and clearly state the offer. In the case of multiple offers, there should be multiple CTA buttons that link to a pop-up form or separate landing page with a form. Examples include:
      • Verify Now
      • Sign Up Now
      • Verify Status
      • I'm a Teacher
      • Join Now
      • Redeem Offer
  • Build creative. Images and illustrations help support the copy and keep people interested. Be sure they are relevant to your community and up-to-date.
  • Make sure your discount is discoverable, and implement SEO best practices. List "Military Discount" in your meta description and in your URL for highest rankings in Google or Bing search. Example: website.com/military-discounts.
  • Utilize your footer. Add your deal to your footer for easy access.
  • FAQs. Add a program FAQ to your main FAQ.
  • Recognize holidays or big promotions. If there is a large deal or big holiday happening, call out the special offer in a homepage banner to drive more traffic.
  • Optimize for mobile. Make your page mobile-friendly and can load on different devices.
  • Add a personal touch. Do you have career programs, internships, employee stories, a mission statement, products, non-profit partnerships, or other company initiatives that show your support of this community? If so, include this information or link to it.
If you are a retailer using SheerID's Shopify app, the app will guide you through this step.
