UTM parameter tracking

  • Updated

Track your verification traffic sources directly in MySheerID to evaluate marketing campaign performance.

Supported UTM parameters

SheerID programs automatically support five standard UTM parameters:

  • utm_campaign
  • utm_source
  • utm_medium
  • utm_content
  • utm_term
SheerID recommends using lowercase letters (and optionally underscores) when defining your keys, for example, promotion_id. The keys and the corresponding values will be passed to SheerID in the URL of the verification, and are meant to be human-readable when reviewing reporting data. Including spaces or special characters in your key may result in avoidable parsing errors.

How to track campaign data

Add any supported parameter with a value to your offer landing page URL. MySheerID automatically captures and saves these values in your reporting data. This tracking works on SheerID-hosted pages and custom pages with an installed JavaScript iFrame snippet.

For example, to track a utm_campaign value of "trial" on a standard verification form, append the parameter to your program URL:

https://services.sheerid.com/verify/{yourProgramIdHere}/?utm_campaign=trial

Replace {yourProgramIdHere} with your active program ID.

Viewing tracked UTM data

When a user completes a verification, MySheerID saves the parameter value as metadata on the verification record. You can view this data is three places:

  • MySheerID Report Center: Download a report to view UTM values as column headers alongside standard fields such as Request ID and Status
  • Reporting at-a-glance: The Traffic and Session Insights Dashboard is SheerID's premiere campaign performance report. You can also request a dedicated Campaign Dashboard via Product Support
  • Customer Search tool: Search for individual verifications in MySheerID to view all captured UTM and customer metadata
