August 2024 Releases

  • Updated

Offer Protection: Enhanced Risk Assessment

We've rolled out an advanced model to help us identify and quantify risk on verifications, and then take measures to block bad actors. Initially, a select number of customers using our third-party-fraud-signals (TPFS) product will benefit from this new model. We intend to expand the model's use more widely in the coming months.

Offer Protection: Enhanced Similar Document Detection

We've rolled out a new feature to automatically compare any document a consumer submits during verification to a database of known fraudulent documents. This new protection will help us better identify and reject fraudulent documents. It is now in place across all customer programs.

Instant Verification: Cease Verification Processing for Indian Consumers Under 18

Starting August 20, 2024, due to new regulations in India, SheerID will stop processing verification requests for individuals under 18 years of age associated with Indian organizations. Impacted customers have been notified of this change. However, with explicit written agreement, Enterprise customers can opt out of this restriction.

Consumer Verification: Limit Military Branch Options by Country

We've updated the military verification forms to require users to select a country before choosing their branch of service. This change resolves the issue of displaying all branches for all countries simultaneously. Users will now select a country first, then choose from the relevant branches, simplifying the user experience. Forms for military programs available in only one country will remain unchanged.

Data Improvement: Expanded Support for NY Low Income Programs

In May we enhanced our verification sources for low income programs, and now this month we've added support for 3 additional NY State Low Income programs:

  • NY Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption
  • NY Disability Rent Increase Exemption
  • NY Affordability Benefit from a Utility

Like the ACP programs, these are not included by default on Low Income programs, but can be added to your Low Income program through our Professional Services team. Below you can see the additional NY state-run programs added to our low income verification process.
