Offer Protections: Instant Rate settings

  • Updated

The following article provides an overview of the configuration options available for Instant Rate settings, an offer protection feature available for programs in MySheerID. Instant Rate settings allow program administrators to have more control over decisions related to the balance between maximizing customer conversions and minimizing potential opportunities for abuse by bad actors.

This feature is available during new program creation as well as when modifying existing programs.

Default Setting

New programs will default to the Standard level. This setting is intended to provide a reasonable balance between maximizing consumer conversions and protecting against offer abuse.

Permissive

This setting applies more lenient criteria to document and data evaluation, allowing more users to pass verification automatically.

  • Best for: Specific in-store use cases where some level of human oversight is available.
  • Considerations: This setting is not recommended for most digital programs. It can lead to increased approval of ineligible users and heightened abuse by bad actors.

Standard

This is the default setting used by most programs. Standard makes use of our multi-layered offer protection and mitigation protections. This setting balances robust data sources and document-based verification with a more seamless user experience.

  • Best for: Programs seeking a balanced approach between protection and conversion.
  • Considerations: Offers a smoother user experience, though some low-risk false approvals may still occur depending on audience and offer value.

Conservative

This setting prioritizes verification accuracy by enabling more strict verification criteria for instant data sources, and by disabling Automated Document Review (ADR). When consumers are not instantly verified and are asked to upload a document, it will be routed to manual review rather than being evaluated automatically.

  • Best for: Programs where offer protection is a high priority and tolerance for ineligible approvals is low.
  • Considerations: Manual document review is more secure, but introduces processing time and can negatively impact user experience and conversion rates.

Custom

The Custom level is for programs that require a more fine-tuned consumer experience. SheerID has a variety of additional settings and enhancements that can be utilized to maximize consumer conversion, optimize protection of your offer or reward, or achieve a unique balance between the two.

The Custom level is available only for accounts that have a Customer Success Manager (CSM). Contact your CSM to discuss your requirements and to receive assistance configuring your Custom Instant Rate settings.

Programs that contain customized Instant Rate settings will have an additional Custom level option visible and selected by default. You cannot select the Permissive, Standard, or Conservative level options if your program has been set to Custom. If you need to make changes to customized Instant Rate settings, please contact your CSM.

Regular improvements

SheerID is always working to improve both our offer protection methodologies and our instant verification sources. Consumer conversion rates may fluctuate as improvements are released to the self-service Instant Rate levels (Permissive, Standard, and Conservative).

Contact SheerID or your CSM if you have questions or concerns regarding your conversion rates.

Reporting

As you adjust your Redemption Limit and Instant Rate settings, be sure to keep track of your key metrics within the MySheerID reporting module to ensure you are achieving the results you desire.
