We protect exclusive offers from offer abuse. This feature helps prevent scripted attacks by requiring consumers to get their rewards from their email. This article explains how the email-only reward delivery feature works and how to enable it.
How it works
When we activate this feature, reward codes no longer appear on the verification success page. Instead, consumers see a message directing them to their email inbox. SheerID delivers the code through the success email.
Product Support must enable this feature for your account. We do not turn this on by default.
Use caution when enabling this feature if any of the following apply to your program:
- You already use an email loop
- Your program does not send emails for instant verifications
- Your success page does not have a call to action (CTA) button
Setting up your success email
Before you ask us to turn on email-only delivery, you must make sure your success email is active and ready. This email becomes the only way for your consumers to get their reward codes.
You can check your email settings by following these steps:
- Open your program in MySheerID
-
Click on the Customize button
-
Confirm that your success email template includes a reward code
- Test the email by sending a sample email to yourself
- Verify that the email arrives in your inbox and the reward code is easy to read
FAQ
What is changing?
Reward codes will no longer appear on the success page after a consumer is verified. Consumers must check their email to receive their reward.
Does this apply to all clients?
No. This feature only applies to programs that use reward codes.
What happens to existing programs?
Existing programs will show the reward code on the success page unless you ask us to change it. Contact Product Support to remove rewards from the success page for new or existing programs.
Does this affect API?
Yes. When enabled, we do not return reward codes in the success responses for personal info or verification status endpoints.
How does this affect the email loop?
If you already use an email loop, you do not need this feature. You should only use it if you want the email check to happen after the verification is complete.
Can I still use a CTA button to pass the code?
Yes. This feature does not change how codes pass through CTA buttons.
