How to submit an Add School Request form

  • Updated

If a student or teacher cannot find their school on the dropdown menu on the verification form, they can submit a request to have their school researched and vetted for possible inclusion in the list. All student and teacher verification forms include a link to the Add School Request (ASR) form by default. Check out the FAQ for more information.

The first step is to determine if the school is included in the dropdown menu. Consumers should type the full name of their school in the required field. Entering an acronym or nickname may not yield the best results, as seen in the provided example.

If the student or teacher cannot find their school, they should click on the link "Don't see your school? Request to have it added." This will take the user to the ASR form.

Only countries for which the program is configured will be populated in the Country dropdown menu. In this example, the program is configured for University students in the United States. Therefore the US will be the only country available to select. The tooltip on the ASR form explains this: "Don't see your country? You are not eligible for this offer."

If the school is known and eligible for the offer, the consumer is instructed to copy the institution name and go back to the verification form.

If the school is known and has been researched by SheerID but found to not be eligible for the offer, the user is informed that they are not eligible. There will not be an option to submit a request to have their school researched. The image below shows that a known high school has been determined ineligible because the example offer is restricted to College or University students only.

In the case where a user searches the dropdown list and does not find their school, and filling out the ASR form does not yield a match, the user can then submit a request for their school to be researched.

When the user clicks on the link "Don't see your academic institution?" they are taken to the last step of the ASR process to confirm the details of their request and provide contact information for notification in case the school is found to be eligible and added to the program's dropdown list.

If research proves that the school is found to be ineligible, the user will not receive a notification. Add School Requests are evaluated individually. A school will be added to a program's dropdown school list if it is found to meet the criteria for the particular program, but will not be added if it does not qualify.

The Add School Request form is not unique to each program. This form is standard and utilized across all SheerID programs. That said, the geography and organizations represented in the school organization search within the form match the program configurations of the program in question. As exemplified in this article, the dropdown menu for this US-only, University-level offer will only display colleges and universities in the United States as those are the only schools eligible for the program.
