Consumer support and offer management
If a consumer experiences issues verifying their senior status, direct them to the SheerID Verification Help Center for assistance or customer support routing. If a verified consumer encounters issues applying a discount or redeeming an offer, your customer support must assist them directly.
Audience overview
SheerID age verification allows you to confirm that consumers meet specific age requirements or fall within defined age groups. While age verification supports a wide range of age-based programs, setting up a program specifically for seniors helps you deliver exclusive offers to older adults while protecting your offer integrity.
Program configuration and age limits
SheerID configures age verification programs to respect the specific age window or minimum threshold you choose. Age verification capabilities cover consumers between 18 and 120 years of age.
Each verification program supports a single age range. If you want to verify consumers across two distinct age brackets, create two separate verification programs:
- One program for seniors (e.g., ages 50 and older)
- A second program for young adults (e.g., ages 18 to 25)
Age thresholds and verification methods
Senior age verification confirms that an individual meets or exceeds a specified age threshold, such as 50+, 60+, or 65+.
Verification methods depend on the country:
- US: SheerID verifies consumer age using authoritative data sources, supported by document review if a database lookup is inconclusive
- All other supported countries: Age verification relies on document review
Common use cases
Brands commonly use senior verification for:
- Retail discounts: Granting verified discounts to customers who reach a target age threshold, such as 50+, 60+, or 65+
- Age-based services: Providing age-gated pricing for ticketing, entertainment, travel, and specialized consumer services where legally permitted
