Consumer support and offer redemption
If a consumer experiences issues verifying their young adult status, direct them to the SheerID Verification Help Center for assistance or customer support routing. If a verified consumer encounters issues applying a discount or redeeming an offer, your customer support team must assist them directly.
Audience overview
SheerID age verification allows you to confirm that consumers meet specific age requirements or fall within defined age groups. While age verification supports a wide range of age-based programs, setting up a program specifically for young adults helps you deliver exclusive offers to younger consumers, typically starting at 18 years old. You can define custom age windows to match the terms of your brand offer.
Program configuration and multiple age ranges
Each age verification program supports a single age range. If you want to offer discounts to distinct age groups, such as young adults and seniors, create separate verification programs for each audience:
- One program configured for young adults (e.g., ages 18 to 25)
- A second program configured for seniors (e.g., ages 50 and older)
Verification methods and regional coverage
Verification coverage depends on the location of your target audience:
- US: SheerID uses authoritative data sources to verify consumer age instantly, supported by document review if database records are inconclusive. Once verified, the platform confirms that the user falls within your designated age range
- All other supported countries: Young adult status is verified through document review
Minimum age and legal compliance
The minimum age supported for young adult verification is 18 years old. Verification forms block any user who enters a birth date indicating they are under 18.
SheerID does not collect data from individuals under the local age of consent. Collecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from minors requires specialized parental consent software and compliance governance that SheerID does not support. These minimum age rules maintain compliance with global privacy regulations.
Common use cases
Brands commonly use young adult verification for:
- Retail promotions: Delivering exclusive discounts to young adult consumers during key shopping periods
- Age-gated offers: Providing special pricing for memberships, events, and services where permitted by law
